Your list

THI's checklist has 14 items. Answer the questions to see which ones you need.

Your income limit

Enter how many people will live in the home to see your limit.

HUD's FY2026 low-income limit, 80% of median income. This is the low-income limit THI uses for a household your size; THI's policy allows exceptions for a family with a documented housing need (Section V.D). THI works out your annual income from your documents.

Preferences that may apply

Answer the questions under Your situation to see which preferences may apply to you.

Income adds 10 points below 50% of median income or 5 points from 50% to 80%, set from your verified income. Each year on the waiting list adds 10 points, up to 30, when you update your application every year. THI checks every preference before it selects a family.

How the waiting list uses preference points

FY2026 income limits

HUD's low-income limit is 80% of median income. THI uses the low-income limit for your household's size to decide whether a family is low-income; its policy allows exceptions for a family with a documented housing need (Section V.D).

FY2026 Indian Housing Block Grant low-income limits by household size
People in the householdIncome limit
1$59,850
2$68,400
3$76,950
4$85,450
5$92,300
6$99,150
7$106,000
8$112,800

For 9 or more people, HUD multiplies a 4-person base of $85,440 by a set factor: 140% for 9 people, 148% for 10, and 8% more for each person after that. From HUD's FY2026 income limits, issued June 11, 2026.

Preference points

Eligible families on the waiting list are ranked by these points, then by the date and time THI received each complete application.
