Public Utilities Commission

1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month 7:30 am Fairmont City Hall Conference Room

The Public Utilities Commission shall delegate the day-to-day operations of the utilities to the public utilities division; develop polices, procedures and plans to serve as guidelines to the public utilities division, in the performance of its tasks and roles; and formulate policy, procedures and plans consistent with the overall goals and objective of the city determined by the City Council.

Planning Commission

1st Tuesday of every month 5:30 pm Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the City Council in matters regarding conditional use permits, amendment to the zoning ordinance and zoning map, and the platting and subdivision of land.

Park Board

3rd Tuesday of every month (except November – March, annually) 5:00 pm Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

The Park Board’s purpose is to provide recommendations to the City Council regarding the parks and recreational facilities within the city, and to develop rules and regulations regarding their use.

Board of Zoning Appeals

1st Tuesday of every month 4:30 pm Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

The Board of Zoning Appeals is appointed by the City Council and hears petitions relating to zoning requirements.

Charter Commission

3rd Tuesday of every month 6:00 pm SMEC Room 112 (115 S. Park Street, Fairmont)

The overall purpose of the Charter Commission is to review the present City Charter that regulates City government.

Fairmont Economic Development Authority

2nd Monday of every month 4:30 pm Fairmont City Hall Conference Room

The mission of the Fairmont Economic Development Authority (FEDA) is to maintain Fairmont as a quality community through business retention, expansion and a favorable business climate.

Housing and Redevelopment Authority

The Fairmont Housing and Redevelopment Authority is located at 500 Home Street, Fairmont.

Airport Advisory Board

2nd Tuesday of each month 5:30 pm Fairmont Municipal Airport Terminal Building

The Airport Advisory Board will promote, attract and otherwise encourage the development of aviation related trades.

Lakes Management Committee

3rd Wednesday of every month 9:00 am Fairmont City Hall Conference Room

The Fairmont Lakes Management Committee brings together community stakeholders to discuss lake-related issues such as water quality, invasive species, and shoreline and habitat protection.

Community Center Advisory Board

2nd Wednesday of every month 12:00 pm Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

The Community Center Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council on the planning, construction and funding of a community center.

Safety Council

Semi-annual 5:30 pm Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

The Safety Council shall serve as the committee to receive complaints and suggestions from citizens regarding traffic and pedestrian safety issues, and other items which pertain to general safety and make recommendations to the Council.

Police Commission

Meets on an as need basis

The Police Commission shall have absolute control and supervision over the employment, promotion, discharge, and suspension of all officers and employees of the police department and these powers shall extend to and include all members of the police department.
