Convenience centers and the landfill

Twelve sites, four days a week

Convenience centers open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They are closed Tuesday and Thursday. Household waste is free to County residents with no tonnage limit.

The landfill

Address: 107 Mallard Crossing Road, Lawrenceville, VA 23868
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Scale cutoff: Be on site to cross the scale by 2:30 p.m.
Citizen's drop-off site: At the landfill entrance, open 24 hours a day, six days a week. Closes 7:00 p.m. Saturday, reopens 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Residents: All household waste, free, no tonnage limit
Businesses: First 100 tons a year free; anything over is billed

What the program recycles

Corrugated cardboard, paper, and textiles
Aluminum cans, foil and pans, and scrap metal
White goods and propane tanks
Used oil and batteries
Plastics numbered 1 and 2
Pallets

The recycling program began in 1999 and now diverts close to 4,000 tons a year from the landfill.
