Two stops, then wait
The completed application goes to the Brunswick County Circuit Court with the fee. Bring photo identification and proof that you have demonstrated competence with a handgun. Fingerprinting and background checks follow, and you are notified within 45 days.
How it runs
- Complete the application and return it to the Circuit Court with the fee
- Present photo identification and proof of competence with a handgun
- Be fingerprinted; background checks are run
- The Sheriff signs off and submits the application to the courts
- You are notified within 45 days
Renewals may be processed through the Virginia State Police instead.
