Heritage Park, Rainier View Park, the Bill Heath Sports Complex, the off-leash dog park, and the trail system that connects them.
The City manages six named parks, one large trail system, and two land-banked properties held for future parks. Less than 5% of Sumner’s land area is parks and open space today, below the national average, which is what the City’s long-range plan is working to change.
Reuben Knoblauch Heritage Park
Sumner’s signature public park, known to residents as Heritage Park or Knoblauch Park. Its gazebo bandstand hosts the Music Off Main summer concert series and Food Truck Wednesdays through the season. See the calendar for this year’s lineup.
Rainier View Park
Home to a covered court, refreshed in 2023–2024 with two new ADA curb ramps and about 45 linear feet of sidewalk as part of the City’s ADA Transition Plan work (CIP 18-04, Rainier View Covered Court).

Trails & open space
The City’s one large trail system is growing. A SEPA application is under review for the Fryar Avenue Trail project; the public may review the official file and comment during the notice period.
