Sumner Alert

Sumner Alert is the City’s emergency notification system. Here is the current notice status, how the system works, and how to reach the City about it.

There is no active Sumner Alert notice right now.

How Sumner Alert works

  • Emergency notifications. Sumner Alert is the City’s sign-up emergency notification system, sent through a third-party notification vendor, for time-sensitive public safety messages.
  • Emergency preparedness. The City also publishes resources to help residents prepare their households for floods, lahars, and other regional hazards.
  • In transition. The City has already begun moving Sumner Alert to a new emergency alerting system and will share sign-up details once it’s ready. There isn’t a direct enrollment link right now.

Until the new system is ready, Sumner residents can sign up for Pierce County ALERT, the county’s own emergency notification system. It’s run by Pierce County, not the City of Sumner, but it covers Sumner addresses.
