San Benito County
One road connects San Benito County to the region.
SBCOG plans the corridor. County Express runs the buses. Schedules, projects, and meetings live here.
The corridor
Hollister to Gilroy, and what sits on it
Every intercounty trip County Express runs goes north to Gilroy or south back to Hollister. Gilroy is where the Caltrain platform is, where Santa Clara VTA picks up at Gavilan College, and where the weekend Greyhound stops. The road those buses use is the same road SBCOG is widening.
-
Hollister
The Tripper loop circles the town on weekdays, touching Marguerite Maze and Rancho San Justo middle schools, Hollister High and the Target shopping center. Dial-A-Ride covers the rest curb to curb.
-
San Juan Bautista
Every northbound and southbound intercounty trip stops here, which makes one park bench the whole town's link to the region.
-
State Route 25
The improvement project widens and realigns the highway between the two counties, following the 25/156 turbo roundabout already in service. Measure G is paying for a share of it.
-
Gilroy
Where the county changes vehicles. The southbound evening bus holds until 6:30 p.m. if Caltrain is running late, which tells you what this connection is for.

Decisions in public
One board, eight calendars
One board governs both agencies: the Local Transportation Authority Board also serves as the SBCOG Board, five directors drawn from the County, Hollister and San Juan Bautista. SBCOG also acts as the Airport Land Use Commission and the Service Authority for Freeways and Expressways, and the Technical Advisory Committee, the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council and the Measure G Citizens Oversight Committee advise it. Every packet is posted here.
