The Village of Schaumburg is evaluating improvements along the National Parkway corridor between Higgins Road (Illinois Route 72) and Schaumburg Road. The project includes full depth pavement reconstruction, mobility improvements, and safety enhancements for motorists, pedestrians, and other corridor users. In addition, the intersection of National Parkway and Thacker Drive is being evaluated for potential safety improvements.

Public Information Meeting
The public information meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct., Schaumburg, IL 60193.
Project exhibits will be available for public review and project team members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
Public Comment Period
The public comment period will take place May 28–June 17, 2026. The purpose of the public comment period is to obtain public input on various preliminary concepts for the proposed improvements.

Next Steps
- Comments collected from the public comment period will be shared with the Transportation Committee of the Village of Board along with the preferred concept.
- An Intersection Design Study will be completed, if warranted.
- Traffic management plans (detours) will be further investigated.
- Design approval will be requested from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
