Transportation

Moving people and goods across the region

Lake Erie West is the region's federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). It brings local, state, and federal partners together to plan and fund the transportation system.

The MPO

Planning the network that connects us

As the region's MPO, the council plans roadways, rail, transit, and bike and pedestrian travel to move people and goods safely and efficiently. Two documents anchor the work: the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), the funded list of projects, and Moving Forward 2055, the long-range plan that looks decades ahead.

The council also runs the region's Congestion Management Process and planning for new needs like electric-vehicle charging.
