Stewardship Work
Trail crews, volunteers and the projects the Alliance helps fund.
Grants
Funds for cabins, signs, history and education along the trail.
Gateway Communities
The towns and villages along the trail, and their trail groups.
Workshops
Planning the trail’s next work with its supporters, managers and users.
Membership
Join or renew; memberships run January 1 to December 31.
Donate
Gas for snowmachines and sharp blades for chainsaws.

Stewardship award

The Golden Tripod

In March 2025, the Alliance presented its first annual volunteer award to Aaron Burmeister, recognizing his crucial role in restoring the trail after Typhoon Merbok. When the 2022 storm left miles of the Iditarod Trail not passable, Burmeister brought together multiple partners to clear the debris, re-mark the route with heavy equipment, and save a critical section of the trail. Thanks Aaron!
