What has happened
Call 911
An animal bite is reported the same day so the animal can be located and observed. If it is not an emergency, the Police Department non-emergency line is 254-859-5072.

Report it as soon as you see it
Cattle or horses out of a fence near a roadway are a road hazard first. Call the police non-emergency line, or 911 if animals are on Interstate 35 or a highway.
Free pet microchipping
The Police Department microchips pets for residents at no charge. Call to arrange a time.

Keeping an animal in the city limits
Animals at large
A dog or cat off its owner's property has to be under restraint. An animal picked up at large is impounded, and the owner pays the impound cost.
A dangerous dog
A dog that has attacked can be declared dangerous, which carries registration, confinement and liability insurance requirements under state law.
Noise
A persistently barking animal is a nuisance complaint. Report it to the police non-emergency line, with the address and the times.
Rabies vaccination
Texas requires every dog and cat over four months old to be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian.
