What to Expect

Food from the pantries, soup kitchens and Mobile Pantry stops in Fulfill’s network is free. Here is what happens when you go.

Before you go

  1. Find a place near you on Find Food, by town or ZIP code. Every place lists its hours, its address and a number to call.

  2. Call first. Each pantry sets its own hours, and holidays and weather can change them.

  3. If you are not sure what to bring, ask when you call.

At a pantry

Many pantries in Fulfill’s network hand out government food (TEFAP). The first time you go, the pantry asks you to fill out a short registration form:

  • your name, address, birthdate and phone number
  • how many adults and how many children under 18 live in your home
  • one reason you qualify, such as SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, SSI or TANF, or your signature that your household income is at or below 185% of the poverty level

You do not need to bring proof of income. You declare it on the form.

Clients must be residents of the State of New Jersey.

A choice pantry provides a neighbor-centered approach, promoting dignity and empowering neighbors to choose the foods that meet their needs, whether cultural, dietary-based, or their personal preference.

The People’s Pantry in Toms River is a choice pantry.

At a Mobile Pantry stop

The Mobile Pantry distributes food in locations that are not well-served by pantries. Clients can go to these sites to receive non-perishable food, as well as fresh produce and baked goods. The mobile pantry operates at several low-income housing sites and other locations in need of additional food assistance.

Distribution dates may vary during holidays. If you have questions about our schedule or the mobile pantry program, contact our Network Engagement Team or call 732-918-2600 to confirm distribution.

A soup kitchen serves a hot meal at set times. Look up its hours on Find Food and call first.

Your rights

The pantries and soup kitchens in Fulfill’s network do not refuse service to anyone on the grounds of race, religious affiliation, national origin, sex or special needs.

They never require you to be a member of any organization or to take part in religious services to receive emergency food.
