Asking for an Accommodation

Ask for an accommodation as early as you can, and no later than 72 hours before the event. Depending on what is being asked for, more notice than that may be needed.

The City does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission to, access to, or the operation of its programs, services, or activities, or in its hiring and employment practices. On request it provides aids and services for effective communication, including qualified sign language interpreters and documents in Braille, and it makes reasonable modifications to policies and programs. Service animals, meaning dogs and miniature horses, are welcome in City offices even where pets are not.

The City does not place a surcharge on an individual with a disability, or on any group of individuals with disabilities, to cover the cost of an auxiliary aid, a service, or a reasonable modification of policy.

The City works to reduce language barriers and to give people with limited English proficiency equal access to City services, activities, and programs, and has established procedures for doing so.
