Where Each Material Goes

Six kinds of waste, three destinations. The City collects some of it at the curb, takes some of it only at the Yale Street drop-off, and does not handle the rest at all.

Where each kind of waste goes in East RidgeHousehold trash, brush and leaves, and recycling are collected at the curb. Bulk items and metal are collected at the curb or taken to the Yale Street drop-off. Construction material is only taken at the Yale Street drop-off. Tires and hazardous waste go to a Hamilton County disposal site and are not handled by the City.YOUR CURBYALE STREET DROP-OFFHAMILTON COUNTY SITEHousehold trashBrush and leavesRecyclingBulk items and metalConstruction materialTires and hazardous waste
The City collects the first three at the curb. It takes construction material only at Yale Street, and it does not take the last row at all.

Household trash

Curb, in the City-issued cart
Residents are provided a 96-gallon cart. Nothing in a bag outside the cart is collected. An additional cart costs $60 a year, paid in advance at City Hall.

Brush and leaves

Curb, kept separate from each other
Logs and branches thicker than six inches have to be cut into 18-inch sections. Nothing larger is accepted.

Recycling

Curb, every other week
The schedule now includes fifth Fridays. Businesses along Ringgold Road are collected weekly.

Large bulk items and metal

Curb, or the Yale Street drop-off
Furniture, and metal items such as stoves, refrigerators, and water heaters.

Construction materials

Yale Street drop-off only
These are not collected from any resident.

Tires and hazardous materials

A Hamilton County disposal site
The City publishes the list of county locations.

Carts have to face the right way and stand at least three feet clear of cars, mailboxes, and anything else on every side. A cart that does not is not collected that week.

Recycling and Leaf Collection

A free recycling cart

Recycling carts are free. Fill in the recycling program form and email it, or mail it to the Sanitation Department at 1517 Tombras Avenue, East Ridge, TN 37412.

Collection is every other week, and the schedule now takes fifth Fridays into account. The City has published a revised list of what it will accept for recycling.

The leaf vacuum

Crews vacuum raked leaves from the curb, free to every resident, on a schedule that splits the City into two areas: north of Ringgold Road and south of Ringgold Road.

Rake leaves close to the road but not onto the road surface or into a ditch or drainage structure, and keep rocks and sticks out of the pile. Leaves are not collected on the same day or in the same way as brush.

The City's page gives the season twice and does not give it the same way twice: once as December through February, and once as mid-fall to early spring. Both are reproduced here as published. Call (423) 892-8666 to confirm the current run.
