What the Division Does

  • Investigates reports of animal abuse and neglect
  • Brings cases of animal cruelty to prosecution
  • Captures vicious animals
  • Impounds stray dogs
  • Answers animal-related emergencies after hours
  • Operates the City of East Ridge Animal Shelter

The shelter houses stray, abused, and neglected companion animals. The division works closely with local veterinarians and animal rescue organizations, and it runs a rabies clinic on published dates.

Adopting an Animal

To see the animals available now, call (423) 468-1432. The City runs a separate Animal Services website and Facebook page where adoptable pets are posted.

Animal Services is one of the two services this Request for Proposals asks to bring back inside the City's own website. Its adoptable animals are currently published somewhere else entirely, which is why a resident has to know that second address exists before they can find a pet.
