This is the ”Kouprey”, translating that from the Khmer Language (the native language of Cambodia), it means ”Wild Ox”. The Kouprey is a forest dwelling bovine species that was only found in South East Asia. The last time a Kouprey was recorded to be seen was in 1981 in Cambodia. In the 1960’s, the Prince of Cambodia at the time (Norodom Sihanouk), declared this Kouprey to be the national animal of Cambodia. So, this project means more than just a piece of art, it is my interpretation as the symbol of my Khmer people.
