Discounts and how they combine
Buying in a federally targeted area of the state earns an additional 0.250% off the published rate. Targeted areas are listed on the CHFA Resource Map.
These special programs each earn 0.125% off the published rate: Home of Your Own, for applicants who are disabled or who have a disabled household member; Homeownership Program, for residents of public housing; Military Homeownership, for current and former service members of any branch; Police Homeownership, for municipal officers buying in the town where they work and for state troopers buying anywhere in the state; and Teachers Mortgage Assistance, for several categories of Connecticut licensed teachers.
Discounts do not stack. The targeted-area discount cannot be combined with any other discount, and the special-program discounts cannot be combined with each other.
You apply through a lender, not through CHFA
CHFA sets the rate and the rules; a participating lender takes your application, underwrites it, and closes the loan.
