Chapter 800

Soliciting, picketing and leafleting

Chapter 800 of our codified rules and regulations gives the Northwest Regional Airport Authority power to adopt and amend the rules, regulations and ordinances that govern Cherry Capital Airport and the property it controls, under MCL 259.133. The airport is not designed or intended as a public forum for First Amendment activity. Soliciting, picketing, signature gathering and leafleting are permitted only in the airport's public areas, in the manner this chapter sets out.

Tarmac delays and diversions

Emergency contingency plan

Cherry Capital Airport has prepared an Emergency Contingency Plan under section 42301 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, and files it with the Department of Transportation because Cherry Capital is a commercial airport that may be used for diversions.

TSA checkpoint

Credential authentication

The Transportation Security Administration has installed a credential authentication technology unit at the Cherry Capital Airport security checkpoint, intended to help identify fraudulent identification documents and to reduce touchpoints at the checkpoint.

Michigan TSA Federal Security Director Steve Lorincz said the unit "enhances our detection capabilities for identifying fraudulent ID documents and improves the passenger's experience by increasing efficiency during the checkpoint experience," and that it "reduces touchpoints at the checkpoint, which benefits both officers and travelers."
