Security and TSA PreCheck

The checkpoint is run by the Transportation Security Administration. Arrive two hours before your flight and know the checkpoint hours before you plan an early departure.

Checkpoint Hours

4 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The TSA screens passengers from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. After 6 p.m. the checkpoint does not reopen until 4 a.m.

We ask passengers to arrive two hours before departure. Screening ends at 6 p.m. and does not resume until 4 a.m.

Terminal doors open: 3:30 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Arrive before departure: 2 hours

Screening may be extended briefly in some circumstances, but plan on the scheduled hours unless your airline or a TSA representative at TVC confirms an extension. Once screening has finished for the evening it does not resume until 4:00 a.m.

Reaching the TSA

The airport does not run the checkpoint and cannot answer screening questions. The TSA has three ways in, and the middle one is the fastest.

Firearms and Hazardous Materials

A firearm in a carry-on bag is the most common serious violation at any checkpoint, and it carries a federal civil penalty whether or not it was deliberate. Look through your bag before you leave the house.

Firearms may travel in checked baggage when they are unloaded, locked in a hard-sided case, and declared to the airline at the ticket counter. The airline, not the airport, handles the declaration.
