Three ways onto the island, what parking costs today, and where to go once you're inside. The accessible route and emergency contacts are one link away.
Arrival
Hutchinson Island sits in the Savannah River. However you're crossing, here's where you land, what it costs, and when it runs.
Flying in lands at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, with more than a dozen direct flights a day; Amtrak reaches the city too. The free DOT Express Shuttle runs ADA-accessible vehicles.

Parking
The Authority opened a 900-space parking deck in the 2025 expansion, alongside its existing surface lot. Every space runs on the same pay-by-phone system: no ticket, no cash, and no app to download.
First time on site, scan the QR code posted at the lot or the deck, enter your license plate, and choose a contactless payment method. If you've registered before, there's nothing to do at all: park, go to your session, and drive out when you're ready. Payment processes automatically and a text receipt follows.
Each entry is billed as a new visit, there's no in-and-out privilege once you've paid, and a $0.99 transaction fee applies. You have a 30-minute grace period to leave without being charged. Advance reservations aren't available yet. On the busiest days, an overflow lot runs its own shuttle to the building. For a payment or account problem, the system is run by Metropolis Parking, not the Authority directly: help@metropolis.io or (856) 485-6865.
On the island
Severe weather. If a warning is issued while you're in the building, Public Safety sends a mass notification by text, email, app push, and phone call, and announces over the building's public address system. Move to the lowest floor and an interior room, away from windows and doors, and stay there until the all-clear.
