Outages and safety
Current status for all three systems, how to report an outage, what Fire-Safe Mode means, and how to prepare.
Do this first
Report an outage
Call (509) 447-3137 any time to report a power outage. Please do not report outages by email or social media; they are not monitored around the clock.
Wildfire season
Fire-Safe Mode
During high wildfire risk, the District sets some lines so they will not automatically re-energize after a fault. That can make outages last longer, because crews inspect the line before restoring power. It is a deliberate safety choice for dry, dangerous conditions.
Be ready
Prepare for an outage
-
Before an outage
Keep flashlights, water, and a battery radio ready. Know how to open your garage door by hand. Sign up for outage alerts in SmartHub.
-
During an outage
Report it by phone. Stay far away from any downed line and assume it is live. Turn off or unplug sensitive electronics.
-
Call before you dig
Call 811 at least two business days before any digging so buried lines can be marked. It is free, and it is the law.
