About the District

Powering Pend Oreille County for nearly 100 years.

  • Production. Clean, carbon-free hydropower from Box Canyon Dam, generating since 1956, sold at cost to the Electric System. A regulatory and natural-resources team manages environmental, water-quality, and mitigation work at the dam.
  • Electric. Electric service across Pend Oreille County, backed by the District's own generation and a diverse purchased-power portfolio.
  • Community Network System. Open-access wholesale fiber. The District builds and owns the network; Retail Service Providers sell internet service to you over it.
  • Nine Water Systems. Nine separate community water systems, each financed and managed on its own, with wellhead protection and conservation programs.
