City, Mitchell County
Simpson
On the Solomon River at the county's east edge, once Brittsville, renamed for Alfred Simpson in 1882 when the railroad moved the town a mile.
The place
Simpson began in 1871 as Brittsville, where G. Beaver came up the Solomon River from Delphos looking for a mill site. With the railroads of 1879 and 1880 the village moved a mile to the present townsite, and in 1882 took the name of Alfred Simpson, who had deeded the land.
