Hunter
The southern crossroads on K-181 with the elevator, the Hunter Cafe, a community building that doubles as the polling place, and a rural fire department that throws the after-harvest party.
The place
Old Hunter stood four miles west, around Al Hunter's mercantile and the district post office named for him. In 1894 N.B. Throwbridge opened a post office on the present townsite, and the mail carriers' confusion between the two names is how the town came to be where it is.
