When Landowners must control them each season
The Kansas Noxious Weed Law requires everyone who owns or supervises land to control and eradicate declared weeds.
Field bindweed, musk thistle, johnsongrass, and the other declared weeds must be controlled by the landowner. The county's Weed Department identifies, treats, and advises, and keeps the roadsides clear.
What to do
- Identify the weed with the department's photos and descriptions.
- Call Jason Vetter at 785-738-3461 for treatment options, including cultural controls that need no herbicide.
- Control means preventing viable seed and vegetative spread. Infested hay, feed, and nursery stock may not be sold or given away.
