Economic Development

The Border Region District

East Ridge sits on the Georgia line at Interstate 75, so retail dollars had been crossing the border for years. In October 2011 the State designated 950 acres inside the City as a Border Region Retail Tourism Development Act district. Since then the City reports sales tax growth of nearly $800 million.

In 2024 the Tennessee Municipal League recognized East Ridge with its Excellence in Economic Development award for that work.
