Case study overview
The problem
Policy advocacy organizations produce three kinds of material that get filed separately and read separately: research and data, policy positions, and calls to action. Split across a reports page, an issues page, and a take-action page, each one loses the others — the data has no ask attached, the ask has no evidence behind it, and a reader who arrives at any single piece cannot see the chain that makes it persuasive.
The approach
The site is organized around the central question in the organization's own Children's Roadmap, and education, health, and economic security stay visible together as a reader moves from sourced evidence to policy direction to action — so the chain is the navigation rather than something the reader has to reassemble. One masthead Search and Ask surface covers 724 cleaned, source-linked records, including the full Roadmap and the KIDS COUNT Data Book, which is what makes the evidence usable rather than merely present. The visual system is drawn from the organization's own reports, charts, and White Sands imagery with the Roadmap's magenta, set in Literata and Host Grotesk.
The result
Seventeen routes on a custom WordPress theme over 724 source-linked records, with an identity refresh grounded in the organization's existing published work.
