West Chester Township and Melink Solar Reveal New Rooftop Solar Array

Today, West Chester Township cut the ribbon to celebrate a new roof-mounted solar array at the township’s administration building.

The renewable energy system was designed and installed by Melink Solar, and is expected to deliver $600,200 in savings over its lifetime.

“This project is a fiscally responsible decision that will provide substantial cost savings for years to come,” said Lisa Brown, Township Administrator. “By leveraging solar energy, we’re lowering energy expenses and improving our energy resiliency, which directly benefits our operations.”

This marks the third solar project in West Chester so far this year for Melink Solar, which is recognized as the top commercial solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm in the Midwest by Solar Power World magazine.

"West Chester Township just turned a rooftop into a cost-saving asset, showing how a smart, forward-thinking municipality can protect taxpayers from rising utility costs while investing in its own future,” said Seth Parker, CEO of Melink Solar. “This array is visible proof that responsible stewardship and long-term vision can go hand-in-hand.”

The system is projected to generate 96,873 kWh of electricity in its first year (which is enough electricity to power about 9 average homes for a full year), supplying approximately 40% of the administration building’s annual energy needs.
