Community Development

Permits, planning, licensing, and the work of growing Round Lake well.

Building permits

From decks to solar panels, Community Development reviews permits in 5–10 business days. See the building permits page for the full list of what needs one and the repair thresholds that tip a fix into permit territory.

Code enforcement

Property maintenance concerns (tall grass, debris, unsafe structures) are handled by code enforcement. Report a concern through the Request Center; on the production build, reports route with a tracking number.

Planning & zoning

Zoning processes, the zoning map, and development review run through the department and the Planning and Zoning Commission (next meeting: June 30, 2026, 6:00 p.m.). The Village is currently gathering input on its Comprehensive Plan: ”Help Shape the Future of Round Lake!”
