Lawrence Convention Center. David L. Lawrence Convention Center A. Authorization to issue an amendment to W.G. Tomko, Inc. in the lump sum amount of $40,600 for steam trap repairs. Summary: The David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLCC) utilizes steam as a primary heating source for the facility. When steam travels through the pipes and coils, it loses heat and condenses into water. Steam traps are an essential component of the air handling units as they automatically remove condensate from the steam system while preventing live steam from escaping. If a steam trap is not removing condensate, heat transfer becomes much less efficient, water can collect in the coils, corrosion can increase, and temperature control becomes less accurate. In March 2026, a steam trap survey was conducted on the 248 traps throughout the facility. A total of 35 traps were marked as failed through ultrasonic testing and thermal imaging via a Bacharach device. These traps will be rebuilt with the same manufacturer and model to streamline maintenance and efficiencies on the property. B.
