Unearth a Story: summer reading 2026

Log your reading on Beanstack

Summer reading runs June 1 through July 31, with Beanstack reading challenges for children, teens, and adults, and prizes along the way.

Story Quest: Unearth a Clue turns the season into a puzzle. Check out an age-appropriate puzzle box from the shelf, take it to the circulation desk, and crack the four-digit code hidden inside to unlock a backpack of librarian-picked titles on that box’s theme:

  • Pitch Perfect (music): Cedar Hill and Windsor
  • Ticket to Adventure (travel): Arnold and Northwest
  • X Marks the Plot (ocean): Arnold and Northwest
  • Flames & Fables (fantasy): Cedar Hill and Windsor
  • Secret of the Ancients (time travel): Windsor
  • Beyond the Horizon (space): Arnold and Northwest

Ask library staff to put a kit on hold, or browse the puzzle-box kits on the shelf.

Reading logs

Two self-paced reading logs track a lifetime of reading, from before Kindergarten through high school. Log the same reading on Beanstack, or download and print a paper copy below.

StoryWalks

A StoryWalk pages a picture book out along a park trail, one spread per stop, so families can read and walk together. Free, self-guided, and open during normal park hours.

  • Arnold City Park: 2400 Bradley Beach Road, Arnold, MO
  • Mastodon State Historic Site: 1050 Charles J Becker Drive, Imperial, MO
  • Peace Pantry: 8100 South Industrial Drive, Cedar Hill, MO

A fourth StoryWalk is planned for William C. Haggard City Park.
