Friends of the Library
Each branch has its own Friends of the Library group. Their purpose, in the group's own words:
- Focus public attention on the library.
- Encourage the use of its resources and services.
- Welcome gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library.
- Support the library in developing services and facilities for the community.
- Defend the freedom to read, as set out in the American Library Association's Bill of Rights.

ARNOLD
Arnold Friends of the Library
Meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10am in the Arnold Jaycees Community Room. Raises funds through an annual antique appraisal and ongoing sales of book bags and used books.

NORTHWEST
Northwest Friends of the Library
Meets the second Friday of each month at 10am and runs a book shop inside the branch, funding summer reading prizes, genealogy materials, and author programs.

WINDSOR
Windsor Friends of the Library
Meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6pm and keeps a perpetual book sale going, funding children's programs, author signings, and musical performances.
Membership starts at $5 a year for individuals district-wide, as little as $2 for students (and seniors at Windsor). Ask at a meeting or at your branch how to join; donations are tax deductible.
JCL Foundation
Library Director Cindy Hayes points to the Foundation's role in steadying the library's budget: tax revenue alone can fluctuate from year to year, and the Foundation's fundraising helps keep technology, programs, and collections strong regardless.
Established in October 2010 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit by five founding board members, the Foundation funds capital projects, staff training, technology, and programs that keep the library free for hundreds of thousands of Jefferson County residents. The Foundation Board meets quarterly, on the first Tuesday of March, June, September, and December.
Annual donor recognition:
- Library Champion: $10,000 or more in one year.
- Library Sponsors: $5,000 or more in one year.
- Library Fans: $1,000 or more in one year.
- Library Donors: $500 or more in one year.

Indoor Mini Golf 2026

The Foundation's Halloween-costume mini golf tournament fills the Arnold Branch with nineteen holes, each decorated by a local business. Tee times run from 9:30am to 3:30pm; children and adults register on separate forms, whether you're playing solo or as a family group.
Sponsorship opportunities:
- Event Sponsor, $1,000: your company's name and logo on all marketing materials and player scorecards.
- Refreshment Sponsor, $300: your logo on marketing materials, with a table at the event.
- Hole Sponsor, $100 to $500: decorate a hole along the course. Hole 1, the starting point, and Hole 18, the finish, run $500 and $300; every other hole is $100.

Volunteer
Jefferson County Library encourages local residents, businesses, and organizations to volunteer at its branches in support of the library's mission, programs, and services. Every volunteer reports to a designated staff supervisor, and each branch or department may add its own guidelines for the work it needs done. All volunteer applicants complete a criminal record check through local police before they start.
