Our Town
Built brick by brick
A railroad stop named for a farmer, a brickyard that fired the biggest kilns in Illinois, and a village that never stopped making room. That story is why this site looks the way it does.
1852
Gilberts Station
A post office opens on the Galena & Chicago Union line, near Albro Gilberts’ farm.
1868
The brickworks
David Haeger’s tile and brick factory grows into the largest in Illinois.
1890
Incorporation
Gilberts becomes a village, with blacksmiths, creameries, a feed mill, and all.
Today
8,400 neighbors
One of Kane County’s fastest-growing villages, still shaped by its glacial hills.
