Garbage, recycling & yard waste
Carts out by 6:00 am, lids closed, three feet of breathing room. The rest mostly takes care of itself.
The weekly routine
Gilberts households get weekly curbside garbage and recycling, billed right on your Village water bill. One account, one due date, no separate hauler paperwork. Your street's collection day is on your welcome letter, or one call to Village Hall away: 847-428-2861.
- Set out by 6:00 am on collection day (or the night before).
- Holiday weeks can slide a day. After a major holiday, expect pickup one day later. The calendar flags it.
- Recycling goes loose in the cart: paper, cardboard, bottles, jugs, and cans. When in doubt, the Green Guide below settles it.
Yard waste
Seasonal yard-waste collection runs spring through fall. Bag leaves and clippings in paper yard bags, and bundle brush with twine. Current-season details ride along in the e-newsletter and the news page.
Bulk items
The couch that's done its time, the water heater that quit: bulk pickup is arranged through the Village's contracted hauler. Call Village Hall at 847-428-2861 and they'll set it up and tell you if there's a fee.
The Green Guide
Kane County's annual Green Guide answers the oddballs, including electronics, paint, batteries, mattresses, and medicine, with county-wide drop-off options.
Billing
Garbage service is billed with water, due the 10th. Pay or set up e-notices from the same account.
Missed pickup?
Leave the cart out and call Village Hall the same day: 847-428-2861. Most misses are collected within a day.
