Wheeler Opera House
The main theatre. General admission or reserved seating, for live events, films, and lectures.
The Vault at the Wheeler
The newly renovated Vault is the newest room at the Wheeler available to rent.
Rates and rental terms
Current room rates are quoted by the box office for your date, room, and rental type. Community rates are kept affordable using revenue from the Wheeler Real Estate Transfer Tax.
- Hours
- Performances are expected to end no later than 11:00 p.m. All rentals must be loaded out no later than midnight after the event ends.
- Events per day
- No more than two events in one rental day without the venue’s approval.
- Overtime
- 1.5x the listed hourly rate for personnel working more than ten hours in any 24 hours, more than eight hours in a day, or any graveyard-shift call between midnight and 8:00 a.m.
- Booking window
- Rental requests must be made within 75 days of the event.
- Unavailable to rent
- Mid-June through mid-August, when the Wheeler Opera House is home to the resident opera company of the Aspen Music Festival and School.
- Ticketing
- Every publicly ticketed event is sold and issued through the Wheeler Box Office, the Aspen Show Tix office.
Technical specifications
This is the equipment and crew policy the Wheeler lists on its own site. For rigging, power, or stage dimensions, ask when you enquire.
- House
- Non-union. A minimum Wheeler crew of well-qualified production staff is required for all events.
- Production management
- The production manager or a designated representative must be present for all operations on stage.
- Audio
- Avid S6L audio console.
- Communications
- Wireless Clear-com system.
- Projection
- Barco Laser 4K projector.
- Sustainability
- Zero single-use plastic. Only compostable or reusable items are permitted, as part of the Wasteless at the Wheeler program.

Have these ready and the box office can put together an estimate:
- The event title and type: film, music, theatrical, comedy, or lecture
- A preferred date and a backup date
- Expected attendance
- The type of rental: general admission or reserved seating, a free event, a live ticketed event, a private event, or a reception, with or without a bar
- Your schedule: load-in, start, and end times
