Disadvantaged Community program · No cost
Fresh Air For All — free home air filter for DAC residents.
If you live in Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, northern West Sacramento, or Rio Vista plus surrounding ag lands, you're eligible for a free, professionally-installed HEPA air filter and one year of replacement filters. No paperwork beyond proof of address.
How it works
- Confirm you're in a Disadvantaged Community. The District covers three DACs: Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation tribal lands; northern West Sacramento; Rio Vista and surrounding ag lands. See the map →
- Apply online with your address and best contact method, or call (530) 757-3650.
- A District-trained installer schedules a visit usually within two weeks. The visit takes 30–60 minutes.
- You get the filter unit and 12 months of replacement filters delivered at no cost. Annual checkups are available.
Why this program exists
Outdoor air quality in YSAQMD's three Disadvantaged Communities is regularly impacted by wildfire smoke, agricultural burning, and proximity to the Sacramento Valley's wildfire smoke corridor. Indoor HEPA filtration is one of the most effective and least expensive interventions available — a single residential unit removes the vast majority of PM2.5 from indoor air during a smoke event.
The program is funded by California's Community Air Protection (AB 617) program and is part of the District's broader commitment to environmental justice as required by California Government Code §11135.
Service area
Fresh Air For All is currently available to residents in these three Disadvantaged Communities:
- Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation tribal lands in western Yolo County
- Northern West Sacramento — the census tracts north of US-50 and west of the Sacramento River, including areas near the Port of West Sacramento
- Rio Vista and surrounding ag lands — the city of Rio Vista plus the unincorporated Delta-adjacent areas in southeastern Solano County within YSAQMD's jurisdiction

A redesign note
The current District site puts Fresh Air For All four clicks deep under /incentives. We've promoted it to a first-class landing because it's the District's clearest environmental-justice program and the one that puts the most direct benefit into community members' hands. The Spanish-language sibling page is on the same level, not buried under a "Información en Español" link.
