Foundations: HOMEARAMA®

West Chester Township is “Where Families Grow and Businesses Prosper.”

Home to more than 66,000 residents and named to MONEY Magazine’s list of “Best Places to Live in America” seven times (2005, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018), West Chester, Ohio is also where people come to live their best life.

Cincinnati HOMEARAMA® has chosen our community for its premier new home showcase five times since 1980. The annual event got its start in 1962.

The Beckett Ridge community was formed around 1976 as a planned unit development (PUD), the first of its kind in the area. Developers envisioned a resort-like residential community similar to neighborhoods that had become popular in California and other parts of the country at that time.

Beckett Ridge is located just west of Interstate 75 on farmland purchased around 1810. The property was once owned by John and Mary Beckett, a family of early Union Township pioneers, hence the name. Work began in the early 1970s with condominiums and single-family homes built on small lots. Upscale custom homes and amenities, such as the golf club, were later added and the project was completed in 1992.

The success of Beckett Ridge spurred similar developments including Wetherington Golf and Country Club, built north of Tylersville Road at the border with Liberty Township. Wetherington, site of HOMEARAMA® 1992, is a gated community offering upscale living with luxurious homes and amenities.
