The West Chester Board of Trustees approved the promotion of three experienced officers to the rank of Sergeant at the April 11, 2023 regular meeting. The officers were each sworn in to their new rank by Fiscal Officer Bruce Jones; and were awarded badges symbolizing their promotion by Police Chief Joel Herzog.
Dustin Parrett has been in a police officer with West Chester since 2010 and has served gallantly. Chief Herzog says Sgt. Parrett is looked upon as a leader in the Uniformed Patrol Section. Sgt. Parrett has been assigned special duties as a field training officer, honor guard team member and has served on the Crisis Response Team since 2015, currently assistant team leader.
Scott Lovett joined the West Chester Police Department in 2000 and has served in the Uniformed Patrol Section, the Mounted Patrol, the Canine Unit, and most recently the School Resource Unit. He has served on the Crisis Response Team since 2003 and currently serves as a team leader. Chief Herzog said this promotion is so well deserved and West Chester residents benefit from Sgt. Lovett’s service and commitment.
Detective Robert Obermeyer has also served the West Chester community since 2000. Chief Herzog says Sgt. Obermeyer’s strong work ethic made him a leader on his shift with a strong appetite for criminal apprehension. Sgt. Obermeyer was selected as a field training officer for new police recruits, along with being a part of the traffic crash reconstruction team and his attention to detail led to his assignment as a criminalist. Sgt. Obermeyer was also assigned to the Canine Unit for 12 years, working with two different canines.
