Your water questions, answered

Follow every drop from drain to river.

One search should connect residents, teachers, businesses, and staff to tours, events, service-map routing, PARC projects, public documents, and the science of renewing 20 million gallons a day for 300,000 neighbors.

By the numbers

A regional facility at work, around the clock

  • 20 MGDWastewater treated every day
  • 300KResidents served across the metro
  • 19Connecting communities
  • 3rdLargest water resource recovery facility in Colorado

Figures reflect SPR's published operating profile. In the redesign, staff would update these numbers in one place and they would change everywhere.

Why we are called Renew

We do not treat waste. We recover resources.

In 2014 the Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant became South Platte Renew to reflect a simple shift in thinking. Every day we capture biogas to generate renewable power on-site, recover nutrients that return to the soil as biosolids, and protect the South Platte River for everyone downstream.

Explore resource recovery

Water arrives

Homes and businesses send wastewater into a regional recovery process.

Treatment cleans

Biological and engineered systems protect the South Platte River.

Energy returns

Biogas supports on-site cogeneration and a lower operating footprint.

Nutrients recycle

Biosolids return useful nutrients to Colorado soil instead of waste streams.
