Accessibility statement

Accessibility is a design requirement here, not an afterthought. This prototype is built to demonstrate it.

Our commitment

South Platte Renew is committed to making its website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or speech input. The redesigned site targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Levels A and AA, and is built to meet the requirements of the federal ADA Title II rule and Colorado accessibility law (C.R.S. §§ 24-85-101 et seq.).

What this prototype demonstrates

  • Semantic structure. Every page uses landmark regions (banner, navigation, main, contentinfo) and a logical heading order.
  • Skip link. A “Skip to main content” link is the first focusable item on each page.
  • Visible focus. Keyboard focus is always clearly indicated with a high-contrast outline.
  • Color contrast. Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body text.
  • Labelled controls. Search, filters, and forms have programmatic labels and clear error messaging.
  • Responsive & zoom-friendly. Content reflows cleanly down to a 320 px viewport and at 200% zoom without loss of function.
  • Progressive enhancement. Navigation and search degrade gracefully; core links work even without JavaScript.
  • Accessible media. Images carry alt text, and podcast episodes ship with full transcripts.
  • Multilingual access. A Spanish landing page demonstrates the language approach from Addendum 1: key pages human-reviewed, with machine translation available site-wide.

In the full engagement. Accessibility is validated with automated testing, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, a documented VPAT or conformance report, and a pre-launch audit, as required by RFP 26-022. PDFs and documents are remediated to tagged, accessible formats as part of content migration.

Documents & PDFs

Some legacy documents may not yet be fully accessible. As part of the redesign, the document library is inventoried and remediated, and an accessible HTML alternative is provided where a PDF cannot be made conformant. If you need a document in a different format, contact us and we will provide it promptly.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, we want to hear about it. Use the contact form and choose “General question,” describe the page and the issue, and we will respond and work to fix it.

This statement describes the accessibility approach demonstrated in this Stoa prototype. The live SPR site would carry a dated, maintained version of this statement.
