County Urges Commercial Vehicles to Avoid Using Line Springs Road and US 441 (Newfound Gap Road)

Sevier County, Tennessee (October 10, 2024) – Sevier County is urging all large commercial trucks and vehicles to avoid using Line Springs Road and US 441 (Newfound Gap Road) as alternate routes due to the ongoing I-40/I-26 road closures due to damage from Hurricane Helene. The County has seen a significant increase in commercial traffic, as many are attempting to find alternative routes through Sevier County as they navigate to North Carolina.

Line Springs Road and US 441 (Newfound Gap Road) are inappropriate for commercial trucks and vehicles. Due to their narrow and winding terrain, these roads pose significant hazards for these types of vehicles, which can create dangerous conditions for drivers.

Commercial drivers are strongly encouraged not to rely on GPS when navigating through this region. Many navigation systems are directing vehicles onto inappropriate roads, such as Line Springs Road and US 441 (Newfound Gap Road), which are not intended for heavy commercial use. Instead, Sevier County advises all commercial drivers to utilize major highways and designated truck routes.

For visitors coming to our area, Sevier County remains open and welcomes you and your families. Visitors traveling to the area from East of Sevier County are encouraged to use I-81 and I-75 as their primary routes.
