About SGA

The Sacramento Groundwater Authority is a joint powers authority (JPA) formed in 1998 to manage the groundwater basin in Sacramento County north of the American River.

Mission

Manage, Protect and Sustain

To manage, protect and sustain the groundwater resources of the basin in Sacramento County north of the American River consistent with the Water Forum Agreement for the benefit of the water users within the basin, and to coordinate with other water management entities and activities throughout the region.

SGA and the Regional Water Authority share staff and an office, and each keeps its own governing board, programs and public records. Regional supply and the Water Bank are on the RWA website.
