Water Future

The Sacramento region’s water supplies come from a variety of local sources, including surface water, groundwater, recycled water and conserved water. The Water Bank is an innovative groundwater storage program that will improve regional water supply reliability in the near-term and into the future.

A Reservoir Under Our Feet

  • Store available surface water in the groundwater basin during wet periods.
  • Draw on stored groundwater in dry years so less river water is diverted.
  • Coordinate projects and public engagement across member agencies.
