Lift-off: Global Aviation Policy Ascends in Washington

On December 10, diplomats, industry leaders and federal government officials gathered to hear from Assistant Administrator for Policy, International Affairs, and Environment Bailey Edwards of the Federal Aviation Administration and Hugo Yon, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Transportation Affairs. Edwards talked about priorities for the FAA and how the private sector can cooperate with regulations that ensure safety while enabling growth.
Yon discussed how the U.S. Department of State works with domestic and international partners to advance bilateral aviation relationships, coordinates policy, and negotiates to ensure American competitiveness and access in the global market. The discussion was wide-ranging and focused on trade, economic development, innovative design and international cooperation. The program was hosted in partnership with the Official Airline Sponsor of the Meridian Center for Diplomatic Engagement, United Airlines.
Managing Director for Government Relations Sasha Johnson highlighted United’s industry-leading efforts on sustainability and low-carbon fuel use.
