Senior Citizens Legal Services (SCLS)

In their own words

Senior Citizens’ Legal Services (SCLS) provides free legal services to defend the rights of the elderly to quality housing, government benefits, and protection from exploitation and discrimination. SCLS opened its first office in 1972 because the elderly were unable to obtain legal aid services that addressed their unique problems. Senior community activists believed that the elderly needed and deserved a program designed to meet their special needs. The office quickly became a model project for the creation of hundreds of similar law offices for older people throughout the country. For 30 years, SCLS has worked to develop expertise in legal problems that relate to aging.

LAAC has named every Dan Bradley Fellow since 2015 and every Public Interest Bar Fellow for 2026, and none of them were placed here. That is not a refusal: most California legal aid organizations have never been asked, and an organization that has never hosted a fellow can still be the first to hire you.

Is this your organization? Complete this page

This organization has not published whether it hires before the bar. Nothing on this page is inferred, so those questions stay open rather than being answered with a guess.

If you work here, you can fill this in, including whether you hire law graduates before they are licensed, which is the question this whole site exists to answer.
