What that means here

• 1 Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring that never sits underneath another control.
• 2 Every page works with scripting off. The calendar, the directory, the filters and the search results are all rendered by the server first.
• 3 Text and interface colors meet AA contrast at their resting state and under hover and focus.
• 4 Every control is at least 24 by 24 pixels, and the ones you use most are 44.
• 5 Animation is limited to page transitions, and is switched off entirely when your system asks for reduced motion.
• 6 Every photograph carries a description of what is in it.

What we know falls short

Three things on this site are not as good as the rest of it. They are listed here because a statement that names nothing is a claim, not a statement.

• 1 Filtering the organization directory by typing a name needs scripting. Every other filter on the site, including all thirteen subject areas and the pre-bar list, is an ordinary page that works without it.
• 2 Two long tables, the hiring calendar and the Dan Bradley roster, scroll sideways on a narrow phone rather than reflowing. They are keyboard-scrollable and labeled, but a reflowed layout would be better.
• 3 The ranking on the matching page reorders its list without moving keyboard focus, so a screen reader hears the new count from a live region rather than being taken to the top of the list.
