California civil legal aid organizations
Housing and Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) (CA)
In their own words
We promote affordable and fair credit access, asset building and preservation. We fight abusive mortgage servicing, problems with homeowner associations, foreclosure, escrow and other homeowner problems. We fight predatory lending of all kinds. We provide financial counseling to individuals and community education workshops. We train attorneys. We train professionals and service providers who are not attorneys. We translate our clients’ experiences and needs into policy work. We collaborate with many different partners across the state.

LAAC has named every Dan Bradley Fellow since 2015 and every Public Interest Bar Fellow for 2026, and none of them were placed here. That is not a refusal: most California legal aid organizations have never been asked, and an organization that has never hosted a fellow can still be the first to hire you.
Is this your organization? Complete this page
This organization has not published whether it hires before the bar. Nothing on this page is inferred, so those questions stay open rather than being answered with a guess.
If you work here, you can fill this in, including whether you hire law graduates before they are licensed, which is the question this whole site exists to answer.
