Center for Health Care Rights
In their own words
The Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR) is a nonprofit health care advocacy organization dedicated to assuring consumer access to quality health care through education, counseling, informal advocacy, and legal services. CHCR’s direct services empower elderly and disabled consumers and their family members to use Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other health benefits effectively, make informed health care choices, and take appropriate action to resolve their health care problems. Since 1985, CHCR has delivered Medicare advocacy and health insurance counseling services to Medicare beneficiaries and their families in Los Angeles County with the financial support of state and federal funding from the California Department of Aging Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program grants.

LAAC has named every Dan Bradley Fellow since 2015 and every Public Interest Bar Fellow for 2026, and none of them were placed here. That is not a refusal: most California legal aid organizations have never been asked, and an organization that has never hosted a fellow can still be the first to hire you.

This organization has not published whether it hires before the bar. Nothing on this page is inferred, so those questions stay open rather than being answered with a guess.
If you work here, you can fill this in, including whether you hire law graduates before they are licensed, which is the question this whole site exists to answer.
