Everyone should be vigilant in securing your home and vehicles and report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency. 1. Be aware of what you share online. If you’re going on vacation or away from home for a few days, refrain from posting where you are staying. Wait until you return to post those wonderful photos. If you are posting something for sale or looking to purchase something, remember not to post or give personal information to strangers. 2. Around the House. Don’t provide hiding spots. Keep the shrubs, overgrown hedges, and low hanging tree limbs trimmed so that it removes an area where someone could duck into or hide from sight. Outdoor lighting will also help limit those blind or hiding spots especially, around the driveway area. 3. Vehicles parked in the driveway and parking lots. Never leave your vehicle unlocked or leave the keys in your vehicle and be cautious of the location of a spare key. Install an audible alarm system or a visible anti-theft device. Don’t leave valuable personal items visible in the vehicle. The best way to attract a thief and become a victim is to show them what the prize will be.
