Throughout April, the department maintained centralized oversight of grant compliance, financial reconciliation, reimbursement processing, and audit-sensitive documentation across active funding programs. In addition to funding administration, the department supported ongoing capital project execution, infrastructure coordination, and public communication efforts, while continuing to enhance digital services, interdepartmental operations, and external partnerships. Strategic focus remains on strengthening internal processes, ensuring compliance, improving service delivery, and positioning the City for sustained growth and investment. KEY ACTIVITY: • Coordinated planning, scheduling, and public communication for roadway safety improvements along S. Mack Smith Road and Belvoir Avenue, including contractor coordination and traffic control strategy • Developed and issued multiple press releases and public notices related to infrastructure, traffic alerts, and City operations • Continued implementation and refinement of the City’s new website and ADA-compliant content systems • Advanced coordination efforts related to Tennessee American Water infrastructure improvements and public communication strategy • Supported ongoing capital project progression, including Community Center renovations and Camp Jordan improvements • Managed grant compliance, reporting, and reimbursement documentation across multiple active funding sources • Continued coordination of interdepartmental and external partner communication for infrastructure and The East Ridge Police Department made a total of 50 physical arrests that included 75 misdemeanor charges and 27 felony charges. The East Ridge Police Department answered 4 calls within the City of Ridgeside and conducted daily self-initiated activities (directed patrols, park and walks, etc.). Fire Administration • Scheduled fire inspections and training for each shift. • Fire Department participated in the DUI mock crash at East Ridge High School for prom. • Staff attended City Council meetings. • Fire Chief Williams has continued in the role as Interim City Manager this month. • Conducted interviews for the Battalion Chief position upon the retirement of Battalion Chief Eric Bowen. • Firefighter Alex Chaigne started full-time, filling a vacant firefighter position. • Fire Administration has been working on updating Standard Operating Procedures for fires involving Electric and Hybrid vehicles. They were able to get 4 out 5 working. The 5th one needs a new blower motor. • Made copies of the 4 and 6 ASSA keys for Dean to put in the Nox box • Performed the annual backflow test at Station 1 • Replaced the thermostat wire and one of the relays in the condenser unit going to station 1 • Jake Marshall Service Inc. came back out and replaced the blower motor in the 5th bunk room split unit at Fire Hall 2 (4/28/2026) Camp Jordan Park / Arena • Repaired the leak and replumbed the toilet, sink and hose bib on the water line feeding the amphitheater • Fabricated a brace for the hose bib inside the men’s room of the amphitheater • Bent the deck/baffle back out on one of their mowers and welded it in place. Also added air to the tires and greased all the fittings • Tested the main backflow in the pit by the rear entrance Community Center • Performed bi‑weekly mowing and weed eating • Unwinterized the dog park drinking fountains • Purchased and installed a power cord for the new oven • Changed the batteries and adjusted the thermostat in the Museum • Fabricated a new door latch for the handicap stall in the woman’s restroom at the Pioneer Playground • Repaired the pipe, 90, male adapter and coupling leading into the backflow that feeds the splash pad • Re-built the internal components of the splash pad backflow device • Took apart the splash pad holding tank float, cleaned thoroughly and reassembled. OPERATIONS & BOOKINGS: • Venue 1921 hosted successful events during April, including: o East Ridge High School Prom o Private baby shower, our largest event to date at 350 people • Ongoing development of procedures related to: o Scheduling police officers for event o Temporary Special Event Permit processes o Internal coordination between departments • These operational systems are nearing completion and will help streamline future event management Our main goal has been simplifying so the client can easily book. Individual clients need more support with all the requirements than a business who may be used to insurance/contracts/online systems. STAFFING & COMMUNITY IMPACT: • Venue staff continue supporting a wide variety of private and community-based events. • Bilingual support remains an important asset in client communication and outreach efforts. • Venue 1921 continues to serve a diverse range of residents and celebrations within the community.
